“Recovering better for an equitable and sustainable word”

The world has been celebrating numerous and important days across the year. Each day has its own gravity, but the world Peace Day has a unique importance. Without pace the human beings cannot be able to celebrate all other days calmly or peacefully. Each year the International Day of Pace is observed around the world on 21st September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideas of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire. The Pace Day of 2021 celebrates with the theme

“Recovering better for an equitable and Sustainable world”.

There is a dire need of robust policy and strategy that the world should recovered from the noble COVID-19 towards the better & healthy society. Due to COVID-19 socio-economic fabric structure of society is totally devastated and created several breaches that will seriously affect the solid foundation of economic liberal democracy. There is only solution which is, to achieve the equitable and sustainable world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) equity is defined as the absence of avoidable or remediable differences among groups of people, whether those groups are defined socially, economically, demographically, or geographically. Moreover, health inequalities involve more than lack of equal access to needed resources to maintain or improve health outcomes. In 2021, as we heal from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are inspired to think creatively and collectively about how to help everyone recover better, how to build resilience and how to transform our world into one that is more equal, more just, equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and healthier. The pandemic is known for hitting the underprivileged and marginalized groups to hardest.

By September, over 700 million COVID 19 vaccine doses have been administered globally, but over 100 countries have not received a single dose which is very alarming for Globalized world. People caught in conflict are especially vulnerable in terms of lack of access to healthcare. In lines with the Secretary – General appealed for a global ceasefire last March, in February 2021 the security Council unanimously passed a resolution calling for members states to support a “Sustainable Humanitarian Pause” to local conflicts.

The global ceasefire must continue to be honored, to ensure people caught in conflict have access to life saving vaccination and treatment. The World Pace is not easy task to achieve, in the aftermath, the world has been suffering from the turbulent crisis. Unemployment is the most challenging problem of status quo. According to the report of the International Labor Organization titled “World Employment and Social Outlook: Trends 2021” the global unemployment will reach 205 million in 2022. There is a hope, there is a will.

For the better world, its high time to do all tremendous efforts to recover the society from the health crisis and provide jobs as soon as possible to make it possible to achieve the peace. Equity of gender is another challenging task to meet the target of an equitable and sustainable world. The worst affected region in the first half of 2021 have been Latin America and the Caribbean Europe and Central Asia. Women have been more likely than man to lose work and, at the same time, saw their unpaid hours of work, care work in particular increase. And, so without specific action, this will bring back outmoded gender division and roles. All these countries will disturb the rule of law and will give pressure on the developing or under developing countries in particular and the globalized world in general. if these things do not take on the board. As a result, the devastation will become the order of day. “The route to achieving equity will not be accomplished through treating everyone equally. It will achieve by treating everyone justly according to their circumstances” Paula Dressel, Race Matter Institute. Sustainable world is the second target of World Peace Day 2021. Sustainable requires human to learn to live within our mean. Major factors, such as human population size, biosphere robustness, resources stock, food supply and environment quality must remain in balance, on a global seal.

Sustainability requires to reexamine our ideas about growth social equity, consumption and “standard of living” the population indicator of social wellbeing. One possible approach to meet the target of World Peace Day 2021 is sustainable consumption with equity and social justice which are the keys to a durable and sustainable world. There were nearly 228 million global cases of COVID-19 reported. Although around 205 million people had recovered from the pandemic COVID-19. This is witnessed of improved health facilities of the world, but this trend is low in the developing countries which is not a good news. The countries should redraw their policies by giving importance of health equity and sustainable development.

The World Peace Day tries that civilized nations should focus on peace of the world in their national policies which is compulsory for their existence. So, it is high time to chalk out the policy in accordance with the theme of Peace Day 2021 “Recovering The Better For An Equitable And Sustainable World”. Is the need of time. The Sustainable Development Goals are the contours which led world towards peace of the world by taking SDG Goal 2: Zero Hunger, SDG Goal 3: Good Health and wellbeing, SDG Goal 5: Gender Equality, SDG Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, SDG Goal 10: Reduce Inequality and SDG Goal 16: Pace: Justice & Strong Institution into the consideration of the national interest of countries. The world is bleeding into different proxy wars of world leading powers, the underdeveloped countries should try their utmost efforts to put pressure on leading powers of world to be serious about the Peace of the world.

Albert Einstein rightly says “Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only achieve by understanding”
