In 2007, the UN General Assembly declared the World Day of Social Justice. But in 2009 beginning, 20 February was marked the year for World Day of social Justice. The UN General Assembly passed the resolution of that day. Internationally, the world is plagued with unfortunate issues that prohibit the millions of individuals for living a fair life. Majority of the world population are deprived of basic facilities such as homes, jobs, healthcare, education, nutrition and many more. It must be responsibility of the authority to create a world where social justice is normal.

In social justice, fairness is essential, and it concerns with maintaining equality for all individuals, which closely related to human rights. According to International Labor Organization report, about two million people reside in "Fragile and conflict-affected" areas. The social justice initiatives are significantly impacted by violent conflict and its effects. Approximately less than 40% of people have access to a career that could boost their income.

The World Day For Social Justice serves worldwide as the platform for raising awareness of social justice issues. People are more equipped to find solutions  and advance true equality of different injustices that exist in the world.

Principles of Social Justices:

Today, we can define for social justices guided by four principles:

 1: Human Rights

The social justice and human right are conceptually distinct, but they are mutually dependent. There are a lot of things in common, such as wanting to promote equality, abolish PR justice, improve government accountability. It should include all human rights, social justice is nevertheless frequently concerned primarily with economic and social rights. Human rights has several advantages while pursuing social justice.

2. Participation

It is the second social justice. This implies to allow the participate in decisions. Due to class and educational restrictions, only selected groups can participate in many civilizations. Discrimination based on race, gender, and sexual orientation excludes individuals and muzzles their voice. Everyone must be given a chance to participate, so people can learn  more about the problem and how to get involved.

3. Access

Access is uneven in most communities, when resources and services are not accessible to everyone. On factors including geography, gender and finical status, people have a restricted number of options for accessing services like high-quality education and healthcare services. Only families earning a specific income can enroll their children in good schools because they can pay their expenses and it is same holds for the medical care.

4. Equity

Equity is the fourth social justice. Disenfranchised communities always exist in unjust systems. These groups require more excellent assistance and resources than the individual who enjoy the luxury. Although both start from various locations, but the finish line is same for both.  We must acknowledge that equity is only attains when the demands of marginalizes are met.

Importance of World Day of Social Justice:

  • Social justices are essential in creating a fair and just world for everyone.
  • With access to education, healthcare, shelter, employment, etc., individual can live with dignity without having to rely on mercy of others.
  • World day of social justice s raising awareness on many prevailing issues in the world that do not get enough attention. Malnutrition and children obesity are major concern and are serious issues. By focusing on these, we can respond appropriately to alleviate them and provide a better life to many of them.
